Construction Logistics Integrator
Wilson James coordinates the logistic support to Heathrow's £4.3bn Capital Investments Plan. This includes projects ranging from a new terminal to baggage tunnels, most of which are being delivered in the most sensitive, complex and demanding of environments. Wilson James provides services which range across eight main functions. Although most project support is a blend of these, each can be delivered on an individual basis:
Materials Delivery Material deliveries are tightly controlled. Traffic regulation is provided to all projects and vehicle flow is managed through BAA's Delivery Management System Airbuild.
Colnbrook Logistic Centre The CLI operates and maintains BAA's Construction Logistics Centre which provides projects with a consolidation capability as well as significant storage capacity.
Security The CLI's security operation looks after all aviation specific airside duties on construction sites, plus the traditional security for landside locations.
Waste Away The CLI provides a waste away service to all construction sites. Focusing on value, compliance and maximising recycling opportunities.
Car Parking and Bussing The CLI ensures the adequate provision of parking and provides secure bussing between sites and the N2 Car Park Construction Worker Screening Facility.
Route Clearance Heathrow is a very complex place to access. The CLI team brokers the most effective routes along which to move material, waste and workers, to and from, construction sites.
Welfare and Catering The CLI is the custodian of BAA Capital's Welfare and Catering Standards and it monitors these across all projects. It can also provide these services.
Accommodation The CLI provides a construction workers accommodation booking service from 5 Star to B&B, that attracts significant discounts.
The CLI provides BAA with the confidence that individual projects, either singly or through lack of coordination, will not inadvertently impede the operation of the airport. It provides constructors with the confidence that they can get on with the complex business of building in the world's busiest airport without worrying about hindering their client's core business.
