Extra Mile Award

People News

On the 28th of May an incident took place at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, where a woman was caught inside one of the resident homes, but when approached she ran away. Security Officer, Maria Mountinho was on the gate at the time of the incident and approached the woman who then proceeded to get aggressive towards Maria. Due to this she arrested the women and pinned her down to the ground until the police arrived on site, she kept her professionalism and remained calm despite the woman assaulting her. The woman had been known by the police and the hospital for previous events so by Maria’s actions she stopped any further crimes being committed by this woman, who was arrested for burglary and assault.

Following on from Maria’s actions she received a Silver Extra Mile Award for stepping up to the challenge at the time. Here she is being presented the award by Contract Manager, Leonie Brumby  and Site Visitor Services Manager, Josh Hamilton.  Thank you Maria for keeping our sites safe!
