LGBT Community Engagement – National Inclusion Week
CSR
Wilson James is committed to ensuring a positive and welcoming workplace community for all.
The third main strand of the Wilson James EDI approach is engaging with the LGBT community.
Breaking down barriers
While great strides have been made to combat prejudice and harm towards the LGBT community, not all industries have made equal progress. There is still work to be done, and Wilson James has a role to play.
According to Stonewall, almost one in five LGBT employees (18%) aren’t out at work and more than a third of LGBT people have hidden or disguised their orientation or identity out of fear of discrimination. It is well documented that this can lead to drastically impacted quality of life and mental health.
Wilson James is committed to more engagement on this issue to ensure that as we grow as a business, creating an open and welcoming workplace for the LGBT community is an active part of our people agenda. We are currently reviewing external organisations with whom we can partner to develop an agenda of proactive engagement both internally and with our clients.
Watch this space
This is the newest part of our EDI agenda and is still being developed. However we are engaging with client organisations who share our core value of Respect and are seeking to fight stigma in their industries. We are also developing opportunities for employee engagement within Wilson James and look forward to sharing more information soon.
