New initiative – Listening EARs
People News
As part of our ongoing commitment to the wellbeing of our employees, we are delighted to launch a new initiative called Listening EARS, in addition to Mental Health First Aiders.
We are looking for volunteers across all business areas and at all levels to become a Listening EAR or Mental Health First Aider.
Here’s some information about each initiative:
Listening EARs – this confidential service will allow our employees to contact an EAR on any wellbeing related topic. An EAR is someone who is ready to listen to colleagues with concerns, and signpost them to other help if required.
Mental Health First Aiders – this confidential service allows employees to have a point of contact if they are experiencing emotional distress or suffering in silence with mental illness. A Mental Health First Aider is there to listen and give ‘first aid’ to colleagues with concerns about mental health and wellbeing, signposting them to other help if required.
To express your interest, please complete this form. If selected, you will need your line manager’s agreement and be willing to give some of your own time. Full training is provided and you will also have the support network of the Mental Health First Aiders and EARs community. Being part of this community is also a great opportunity for your own personal and professional development.
To learn more about our wellbeing initiatives, you can view the Mental Health Project Team round table webinar on the WJ Hub.
Please spread the word far and wide, including to anyone you think might be interested. You can also download some posters here.
