Sarah Watts wins Security Manager of the Year at SFEX Awards

Meet the Team

Congratulations to Sarah Watts for winning ‘Security Manager of the Year’ at last night’s Security and Fire Excellence Awards. This award category recognises an individual who has demonstrated continual and consistent excellence in a senior security management role.

Sarah works for Wilson James at the Francis Crick Institute, a state of the art building which brings together over 1500 scientists and support staff, making it the largest biomedical research facility in Europe. As security operations manager, Sarah manages a security team of 30 and a logistics site team of six. Her understanding for the institute’s life-changing work underpins everything she does; from making diligent recruitment decisions, to managing day-to-day staff operations in a consistent and approachable way. Sarah nurtures strong relationships with her duty security managers and most importantly with the client’s Head of Security, for whom she is a trusted adviser.

Sarah joined the security industry in 2008 and has progressed in a hugely impressive way. She takes care to understand the complexities of a client such as the Francis Crick Institute, to manage a robust security operation but also to be part of a wider community that adds value. She is also a strong brand ambassador for the Crick and also for Wilson James and is admired by everyone she works with.

David Clark, Head of Security at the Francis Crick Institute said:

“Sarah is a pleasure to work with and a credit to Wilson James.  I cannot commend her highly enough and hope that we can continue to recognise her significant contributions to the Crick security risk management framework and the wider institute.”
