Congratulations to Jason Hopwood who completed a distance learning course from The Security Institute, receiving a Diploma in Security Management BTEC Level 5, with distinction.
The year-long course was run through The Security Institute via Perpetuity Training.
The Institute provides one year to complete the coursework, which includes producing several academic papers requiring significant research with critical reading and analysis. Topics covered included:
- Understanding Security
- Planning for threats to Security
- Risk Management
- Employment Law and Security Management
- Management for Security Managers
According to Jason, “This course required a very high level of commitment and most evenings were spent writing the essays at the kitchen table. I have to say I’m so glad it is now finished! It did get difficult at times managing the course deadlines, my day job and our family of six, but we got there. The course has definitely benefited me within the role I’m currently doing, I would say that the three main takeaways for me are that I can now confidently write to a high academic standard and formulate an academic paper if ever called upon to do so, and the course research, critical reading and analysis has broadened my knowledge of the security industry.”
The journey is not over for Jason, who has applied to be a member of the Security Institute–his is in progress but has been approved in principle.
Congratulations on a job well done.
